We are a group of CU students who really enjoy coding. Our team members come from a variety of backgrounds in business, computer science and design. What we all have in common is a passion for creating new and unique things, and a desire to share that passion with others!

6th Annual Startups2Students Fest

Startups2Students is an event that brings together high-quality, self-motivated students and startups. Students everywhere want to get involved with startups and learn from entrepreneurs that are currently executing on their startup dreams. The goal is to foster relationships between professionals and students willing to get involved and add value to a vision. It’s open-ended, so students can get involved via internships, jobs, innovative projects and/or productive friendships encouraging mentorship opportunities. Whatever the case is, when you create an environment that facilitates relationships between high-impact oriented people and startups, anything is possible!

HackYourApp

Do you have an idea for a great new App or Website? Want to gain experience in App or web development? Are you interested in Spark Boulder or InnovateCU?

On March 1st at 9:30am, InnovateCU is kicking off the first of two “HackYourApp” events! Students will pitch their ideas, form teams, and spend the day developing a brand new idea with the help of professional developers from around the Boulder/Denver area. To make things even more exciting, the event will be held at Spark,the new student oriented coworking space on the hill!

Teams that participate in the event on March 1st, will be eligible to attend the final round of HackYourApp on April 18th. In this final round, the teams with the most innovative app that have made the most progress will win a cash prize! Last year’s prizes were $1000, $500, and $200 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Come with your ideas and your friends for prizes, free food, and fun on Saturday, March 1st at 9:30am at Spark. This event is open to everyone! There is no restriction and limitation.

MakeItHappen Coding Workshop

MakeItHappen is a series of 2-hour long coding workshops,where students can enhance their technical skills outside regular classroom environment. Its topics range from “Creating a simple iOS game”,”Getting Started with Node.js”, “Advance Git/Github” to “Mining your social network.” Students are expected to show up, collaborate with each other, and finish with a well-built project that could be put on your Github account.

Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Bring your OWN computer!

Exploring Big Data (with R and Shiny) – March 18th at 5:30PM in Fleming 104

The focus of this workshop is on making a webpage for interactive data analysis as fast as possible. William Surles from Rally Software will host an awesome workshop on big data using R and Shiny, giving background into data science and what a data scientist role looks like in the real world. Students will build most basic Shiny app, build simple Shiny app to explore some Github data to find top languages, and build Shiny App to analyze changes in GitHub events over time.
